Carbon footprint
The goal is to reduce carbon emissions
Nanso Group is aiming for carbon neutrality and reducing its own emissions. We joined STJM's Carbon-neutral textile industry 2035 commitment in the spring of 2023. The commitment helps us plan emission reductions and calculate our carbon footprint.
GOAL 1: OUR ACTIVITIES ARE CARBON NEUTRAL BY 2026
Nanso Group's own operations will be carbon neutral in 2026 (scope 1 & 2). The goal includes direct emissions from our own operations (scope 1) and emissions from purchased energy (scope 2).
GOAL 2: OUR ENTIRE VALUE CHAIN IS CARBON NEUTRAL BY 2035
The entire Nanso Group value chain will be carbon neutral in 2035 (scopes 1, 2 & 3) in accordance with the goals of the Finnish government. We compensate for the emissions that we cannot reduce directly through our own operations.
Nanso Group's carbon footprint 2023
We calculated Nanso Group's carbon footprint with the Carbon neutral textile industry 2035 calculator. The carbon footprint of 2023 was 3,827.1 t CO2e. Our emission reduction measures have clearly taken their toll, as in 2022 our emissions were 5,630.47 t CO2e. The biggest reasons for the decrease in emissions were the omission of the Catmandoo brand from the calculation, the decrease in Nanso's packaging and fabric material quantities compared to the previous year, and the preference for hydro and wind power.
