Our design philosophy - good feeling and beautiful everyday life

The best things in life take time - so do Nanso's clothes. Our design is still based on the same principles that led us to start manufacturing clothes in 1921. We have a sincere desire to make everyday life beautiful and comfortable, and to create favorite clothes that stand the test of time and use. We want the clothes we design to feel and look good on the wearer.

In our design, we cherish quality and the uncomplicated Finnish lifestyle. Our design is successful when our clothes are such that you always want to wear them.

Timeless design is created as a team effort

We design the products in Helsinki in Sörnäini with a professional and passionate team. The products are designed, planned, fitted and tested so that they realize Nanso's distinctive design language, quality and ease of use. The classic products are updated for each season to be current, and the unique patterns create a unique atmosphere in the collections.

A valuable pattern heritage

Prints have been part of Nanso's story since the turn of the 1960s and 1970s. Domestic pattern design is our strength and a recognizable feature of our clothes for many. Thanks to our long and rich history, we have extensive archives of prints from past decades. There are designs in the archive that are timeless and still work as well as they did in previous decades. This kind of long-lasting design is our goal, and we hope that the design work we do today will delight us for a long time in the future as well.

Unique prints from home

"What's interesting in pattern design is the designer's personal handprint and a certain combination of chance and systematicity. Good prints have airiness and relaxation in the composition, which makes the print look natural. We are proud to be able to work with talented Finnish pattern designers, whose handprints create the seasons' beautiful, unique prints," says Noora Niinikoski, Nanso's chief designer.

The collections of recent years have seen prints from, among others, Teija Purase, Reeta Eki, Oona Mäkelä and Tanja Valla.

Responsibility and circular economy as part of planning

At Nanso, we want to be involved in changing the clothing industry in line with the circular economy. All Nanso collections are designed taking into account the durability, longevity, maintainability and recyclability of the products.
