Our design philosophy - good feeling and beautiful everyday life
At the beginning of the design process, you can be ambitious and experimental. During the process, the product begins to be looked at more and more closely and its details are defined more and more precisely. Materials, colors, buttons, ribbons, stitching, all the smallest details must be carefully considered. The dimensions and fit of the product are honed in fitting, the materials and colors in many meetings and testing. The final product is the sum of many things and solutions. Dimensioning and fit is one of the most important aspects of the product. The garment must be functional on the wearer. A beautiful product is no longer beautiful if it does not fit the user. Nanso's chief designer has been Noora Niinikoski since 2015.
"I am fascinated by change and development in the world - how people's thinking changes and how all this affects fashion and dressing. It is important to understand the way the world is going and the changes, and thereby respond to people's needs," describes Niinikoski.
"The best thing about my job is constant development, enthusiasm and cooperation. With skilled and enthusiastic colleagues, we come up with new ideas, develop and implement them. I am always inspired and excited by our collaboration with pattern designers. In addition, positive feedback from customers is rewarding. At their best, Nanso's clothes are objects that produce positive emotions, not just clothes."
"Many things inspire me. I am always amazed at how wonderful, creative and beautiful objects, films, art, music, books, furniture, gardens and houses people come up with and know how to implement. I love forest walks, ceramics, knitting and rough earth colors."
Nanso's goal is to convey a positive atmosphere in the form of products. At Nanso, we design clothes that you can have fun in and that you care about so much that you also take care of them.
Minna Sillanpää, the designer of the main collection, has worked at Nanso for 16 years. The clothing industry fascinates Minna because it combines creativity and meticulous precision. Minna feels that she is both herself.
"The most rewarding thing at work is to see the product you designed on someone in everyday life. It's when you notice that that person has chosen Nanso in the morning, and finds it functional, comfortable and comfortable."
"The long drawn-out career at Nanso is certainly due to the fact that Nanso is impeccable. I like the understated style myself. I like that we make products that work, and we don't go after specials. We trust our expertise. In 16 years I have seen and learned a lot. I'm still seeing and learning – that's what makes this all interesting.”
"The best thing is the team I work with. They are experts in their field, who build collections based on plans: from color chips, scraps of fabric, photos, drawings and sometimes also "between the lines". " Henni Lind, who completed her studies in London, has been designing Nanso nightgowns and loungewear since 2018.
"It feels great and wonderful that I have become a designer for one of Finland's oldest clothing brands. The journey to this point has been full of ups and downs, but now I can say that this is how it was supposed to go. In this company, I have been able to grow, learn new things and be an important part of a wonderful team. I greatly appreciate the fact that I have people around me who believe in me and my vision, despite my young age.”
"Design often starts from a feeling - what I want a person to feel when wearing the garment. I often imagine in my mind how our client, wearing a light lyocell cotton shirt or a luxurious velor dress, wanders around the house after a shower or curls up on the couch reading a book. I want to bring peace, warmth and joy to people, in a way that is natural to me. It is both a privilege and a great responsibility to be able to design nightwear for people, to get so close to someone else's skin. I feel great pride in the products I design and I always try to think about the consumer when designing. The comfort of use, the feel of the material, the cut and the appearance of the product together create a harmonious and functional product."
